Two quick things before I go on:
- Calling this a book review is really kind of stupid… more of a drooling-all-over and telling you about it post
- This book was released in 2001, so it’s far from a new book… just one of my all-time favorites
That being said… Here’s my review of “Letters from a Nut“: I literally laughed out loud while reading the insane genius of “Ted L. Nancy’s” letters (name in quotes because this isn’t his real name). In a nutshell, this uber-comic writes a letter to an unsuspecting company (hotels, corporations, exhibit halls, etc.) with some absolutely ridiculous idea, and shows us both his letter… as-well-as the response. Like a prank call… but by letter. The history behind this book is monumental in certain comedy circles. With a foreword written by none-other then Jerry Seinfeld, the true identity of Mr. Nancy was speculated beyond reason. Finally, 9 yrs after the book was released the true person behind the comedy was revealed to be Barry Marder… a friend and collaborator of Jerry’s.
Trying to explain the genius behind this book is like trying to explain wind to a 3-year-old… all we can say is beg, steal, buy or borrow yourself a copy of this brilliant piece of work!!! Check out the video from our buddies at the Today Show (if you can’t view the video below click HERE), where they read one of the actual letters for you to get a better idea.
