Here’s a look at what’s going on in the Music Business this week…
Sugarland Checkmates The Kings: Sugarland lands at number one on the top 200 with its 3rd album, “The Incredible Machine.” This tops the Kings of Leon‘s recent release of “Come Around Sundown.” They might as well enjoy it now, cause Taylor Swift is set to take the spot next week. Reports are that her new album will pull in close to a million units sold. Thank god we don’t have teenage daughters.
Kayne’s Leaking: In advance of the November 22nd release of his album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, the track names for the album hit Itunes. Itunes has however pixellated the quite titillating demon/angel/zebra sex image that will dawn the cover. No need to get prudish over those kind of things.
AMA Line Up: Bieber, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry set to headline the performances for the upcoming American Music Awards next month. Reminder to fast forward through the first two. Also slated to perform are Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Usher and P!nk. We wonder if P!nk is going to do that hot trapeze number again.
Dave Grohl Coming Full Circle: Dave Grohl announced that on the new Foo Fighters album due out next year, he is teaming up with some of his former Nirvana teammates. Nevermind producer Butch Vig and bassist Krist Novoselic will make a guest appearance on bass. Grohl had this to say about the album, “Each song is full on, the whole record is full on,” he said. “In the 14 songs, there’s not one acoustic guitar, there’s not even one in the house.”
Adam Lambert Going Raw: No you sick freaks, just an acoustic album.
Red Hot Afro-Pop?: The Chili Peppers are working on a new album due out next spring. Bassist Flea is indicating they may step away from their funk-pop sound and lay down some Afro-pop tracks. Is that kind of like Jiffypop?
Broken Bells New Song: WGUB featured artist Broken Bells is working on a new album and they have a new song that came out on MySpace recently. (Is that site still around?)
