Here’s the story… of a little bracelet… a bracelet by the name of Power Balance. Made of plastic and housing a super-special hologram… balance, strength & flexibility are all things that this little bracelet claim to make better. Insert company Press Release #1 essentially stating:
In our advertising we stated that Power Balance wristbands improved your strength, balance and flexibility.
We admit that there is no credible scientific evidence that supports our claims and therefore we engaged in misleading conduct in breach of s52 of the Trade Practices Act 1974.
If you feel you have been misled by our promotions, we wish to unreservedly apologise and offer a full refund.
Here’s the entire release…
Today I went to their site to check out any current statements and see Press Release #2, arguing with their own Press Release #1. Basically stating that their first statement was only for the Australian public and that they’re studies are still valid in the states. Check it:
The moral of this story… well there are a couple actually. #1 geotag your shit bitches! Don’t let the US see something meant for Australia. #2 Are you really that desperate for magical beans? If plastic with little stickers make you a better human, I have some great stuff you should buy!!! Give me a sec to go through my garage though.
Now, if Power Balance wants to send me a couple of bracelets to try out and give my honest-to-god opinion on… happy to try it out. But there is not F’ing way I’ll drop $30 to see if it works!!!!
Nice to meet y’all!
