In a recent report, a study on bandwidth usage in Canada showed that during peak hours, 95% of traffic used in the country was going to Netflix instant streaming usage. Which clearly dwarfs the usage stats on this side of the border at only being around 20% of bandwidth.
It is of note that this study was done shortly after Netflix offered it streaming only service to our northerly neighbors. It might be a little skewed data wise. But what it does prove that Netflix was badly wanted in Canada and the service should remain to be a hit even if that number falls off sharply.
Of course, it could also prove that only 5% of Canadians use bandwidth for porn during peak hours, as opposed to 80% of American households.
