It was a no brainer that the presence of Steven Tyler on the Nations biggest series on television would no-doubt be good for his group Aerosmith… but there’s no way he knew it would be THIS good!
Accord to Nielsen Soundscan, sales of the bands greatest hits albums have skyrocketed more than 250% since the Jan. 19th premiere of AI. 250%!!!! Holy crap!!!! And that’s not it. Their singles are kicking serious ass too! “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” and “Dream On” have each had an over 300% increase in their downloads. And that’s just two of their songs.
Not only is Idol reminding people that Tyler is still alive… but it’s introducing an entirely new generation to one of the best rockers in our modern music era. They are in the studio now (in between Idol tapings) in preparation for their first album release since Honkin’ on Bobo in 2004 (Yeah, I didn’t buy it either). I can only imagine the sales that album will have… especially if they can work it into the end of this season, or just before the kick-off of next year.
With the adrenaline shot to the heart Aerosmith is getting, its almost like FOX wouldn’t have to pay him anything. Almost.
I’m a huge fan of the big-mouthed rocker and his band of rocktologists so this shouldn’t be read with any kind of ill-will (I just haven’t had my coffee yet)… If anything, I hope this fuels even more inspiration for his new album coming out later this year!
