According to the deadline.com Leonardo DiCaprio will play Dr. HH Holmes in a big screen adaptation of the 2003 non-fiction book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America. A story about our Nation’s first Serial Killer suspected of killing anywhere between 27 and 200 people… the 19th century version of Hannibal Lecter!  At a time in our history when the World’s Fair was a National pastime, Dr. Holmes (Who was constructing the World Fair’s Hotel) took advantage of Chicago’s attention being turned to housing the monstrous event.  According to Deadline:

The sociopath used charm and guile to lure guests into what became known as a “murder castle,” a haunt that had a gas chamber, crematorium and a dissecting table where Holmes would murder his victims and strip their skeletons to sell for medical and scientific study.

We love LD in Inception… and thought his intensity was unmatched in both Shutter Island and The Departed, so the thought of him playing such a smoothly creepy guy seducing women then murdering them… quite honestly gives us goosebumps!!!  It’s pretty early in the process… but he’s already locked in (His production house Appian Way actually bought the rights) so it’s simply a matter of time.
