Here’s a look at what’s going on in the music biz..

Who’s #1?:  The Juice (No, not O.J. Simpson) ranks the top 50 R&B stars from the last 25 years.  So who is #1?  Not Nelly, he just has a song called that.  Not Kanye, he  ranks number 46.  Oh we aren’t going to give it away for you.  Want a hint?  This artist likes em young.   We’re just saying. 

Idol Changing Again: Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe alluded that more changes are coming to American Idol this season.  Gone will be the top 24 round where America whittles the field to the final 12.  Instead the final 12 will be chosen in another manner.  Also new this year is a round where contestants will make music videos.  Idol premieres January 12th on FOX. 

Gleeful Thriller?:  As if the Superbowl isn’t exciting enough, FOX will follow the big game with an episode of Glee which will feature a mashup with Micheal Jackson’s classic song, “Thriller”.  The episode isn’t devoted to the King of Pop however, it will feature songs by Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry.

Far East Reigns Again:  “Like a G6” regains the top spot on the Hot 100, knocking off Rihannas’ “What’s My Name?”  “G6” returns from being bumped two weeks  ago by Ke$ha’s  “We R Who We R”. 

Britans Gift to the World:  Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” hits the top spot of the Billboard Top 200 this week.  “The Gift” is a follow-up to Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream”.  The Glee cast scores a number one on the digital download front with their cover of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” from last week’s episode.

Canadian Warfare?:  Beiber announces his UK stadium tour.   The North American continent sincerely apologizes.
