NASA’s Cassini space craft, which was lunched in 1997 and reached Saturn’s orbit a short 7 years later has yielded many great shots of the ringed planet. Including the one below, taken from the dark side of the planet as the Sun illuminated Saturn’s rings.
In fact, the probe has taken so many great shots (hundreds of thousands) of the planet that an ingenious budding film maker took them and made something straight out of Hollywood. A fly by. This is actually in the works to become an Imax movie, entitled “Outside In”.
