As well all know, next week begins the official kick off for the Holiday shopping season. With black friday right around the corner, we wanted to give you our thoughts on some of the coolest gear/games/whatever we think is awesome to help make your shopping go a bit easier. Today we are going to start with some video games recommendations for your kids (and you big kids) a like.
Xbox Kinect $149.99: For anyone that has an Xbox 360, this is going to be the top of the line gift for them this year. Motion control, get off the couch. We recommend picking up a game with it, like Kinect Sports or Dance Central ($47.99 each). They even have an Your Shape Fitness Evolved for working off those holiday pounds.
Playstation Move $99.99: This would be for anyone with a Playstation 3. It is Sony’s foray into the motion gaming and it is a pretty sick piece of work. We recommend the Sports Champions that comes with the bundle or John Daly’s Prostroke Golf $29.99 (our coverage) to get you started with this device.
Call of Duty: Black Ops $59.99: Assuming you can find someone who hasn’t already picked this up, this is going to be the best game out this year to pick up for anyone that likes the first person shooter. Not only will they get 10-12 hours of play time in the story mode, but they will also get about 6 months or more in online play. This game is deep and fun. You can’t go wrong with this title. (See what we’ve written about the game!)
Fable III $59.99: Return to Albion and lead the revolution to take power away from your evil brother. The good about this game is that it is big and open worldish. There are tons of side games to play, tons of fun quests, the story is funny as always. The bad about the game is less weapons, less clothing options, and the stranger interaction is a bit over the top annoying. We miss from the second how you could concentrate your area of battle from either magic, ranged or melee. Now everything kind of goes in one pile. Making you a well-rounded warrior for sure. This game is deep, with after you finishing the main quests you get to rule and make decisions for your kingdom. It’s fun, but not for children. There are adult themes in this game, so check the rating.
Tron Evolution $59.99: This one is a great pick up for those of you interested in picking up the Playstation Move as it is compatible with that. But even if you are picking up the game for your Xbox 360, this game is sure to be a dandy. Designed by Disney and set as a prequel to Tron: Legacy (out 12/17/10) this game is sure to please the eyes and your mind. This game comes out 12/07/10, so you’ll have to wait for it. Don’t feel bad for pre-ordering though. Check here for all of our Tron Related coverage.
Rock Band 3 $59.99: The great thing about Rock Band is that the game is deep as well as an online library that keeps the game fresh and new. This one is great to pick up if you have the guitar, drums, and mic from previous renditions of it. But this year they are adding keyboards and a pro style guitar play. So it might be time to upgrade your axe and pick up a keytair for this newest release. (Our extensive coverage!)
Harry Potter and The Dealthly Hallows Part 1 $59.99: This one will be great for those of you with kids. Just in time for the movie release this week this game comes out on 11/16/10. Assuming you can hold off your kids until the holidays, you won’t miss on this one if you want to pick up something for the younger generation (or Harry Potter Nerd) that is in your life.
Assassins Creed Brotherhood $59.99: Coming out on 11/16/10, this game is another in the line of Assasins Creed titles. Generally these have great stories with them. They are historically relevent and visually stunning. You get tons of room to run around and do things. That is the good part. The bad part is that sometimes the mechanics of the game can be clunky and make things hard on you. If you are the kind of person that gets frustrated easily, this might not be the game for you.
Dead Rising II $59.99: The sequel to the million-plus selling Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 sees the player take on the role of former Motocross champion Chuck Greene, who has come to Fortune City, America’s newest gambling paradise, to compete in “Terror is Reality,” a gruesome game show that dares contestants to survive zombie-filled environments for big money prizes at the delight of TV audiences around the globe. Chuck’s motivation for taking part and risking life and limb is his daughter Katey, who since being bitten by a zombie requires a daily dose of Zombrex to prevent her from turning into one of the living dead. There’s no denying that Zombrex works, but since it’s the only drug on the market, its price is high. Out 11/16/2010.
That pretty much wraps it up for games that are coming out/came out recently that will be high on every gamers wish list. But there were a ton of great games that came out this year to choose from. Just to mention a few, Red Dead Redemption ($49.99), Splinter Cell Conviction ($19.99),Batman Arkham Asylum ($32.00), Madden 2011 ($59.99), God of War III ($36.00), and Halo: Reach (59.99).
