Well, it has certainly been a busy couple weeks for tablets.  First the Microsoft Surface drops, and now Google unveils the Nexus 7 ($199) tablet.

iPad killer?  No way.  Amazon Fire killer?  Maybe.  This has a lot of little things that will appeal to a certain marketplace.  The thing about these slimmed down tablets is they are not for computing, but for entertainment.  I wouldn’t spend $500 for an iPad just for the entertainment value.   But I would spend $200 for this for the same reason.  Either way, I digress.

The tablet, is built with Google Play in mind, and will take on the power of Amazon Prime.  Not being a Google Play guy myself, I can’t comment on the content that is on the site.  If I want something media related I am going to go to Amazon.com everday and twice on Sunday.  It remains to be seen if Google will some how want to restrict access to Amazon content on the new Tablet.

The new Nexus 7 is loaded, with features, including Google’s new Android 4.1 software “Jelly Bean”, front facing camera and all the other bells and whistles.  Pre-order now, there are two models to choose from an 8 and 16 gigabyte version.
