Here’s a look at the weeks NFL games. Painfully bad last week only going 7-7. Bound to have bad weeks picking them. Some games just didn’t go the way they were suppose to go. Let’s see if we can’t rebound in week 5. Our overall record is 38-24 for the season.
Jacksonville at Buffalo: The Bills are currently entering rebuilding mode (thought they already were) by dumping Marshawn Lynch this week. The Jaguars are coming off a last second win against the Colts. These teams are both bad, but Jacksonville is a better team and goes on the road to win this game.
Tampa Bay at Cincinnati: Once again we can’t figure out the Bengals. They beat the Ravens, but can’t beat the Browns. Tampa is coming off a bye and it is tempting to pick them in this game. But all signs point to the Bengals winning this game on the solid QB play of Carson Palmer.
Atlanta at Cleveland: Atlanta survives two close games in as many weeks, getting out of the game last week on a last minute field goal. The Browns surprised us in beating the Bengals. This could be a trap game for the Falcons, considering two very emotional games the past two weeks. We still think the Falcons should handle this one, because they are the best team in the NFC south this year.
Detroit at St. Louis: At this point in the season, should I stop picking against the Rams? Doubtful..The Lions hung with a very talented Packers team last week. Shaun Hill will continue to start, and he knows the Rams well from his time in San Francisco. Sam Bradford is still impressing, but they have had a very soft schedule to start. Hard to say it gets tougher from here starting with the Lions, but it does. The Lions will pick up their first win of the season.
Indianapolis at Kansas City: Are the Colts this year’s Jekyll and Hyde team? Doubtful because Payton Manning doesn’t let them be. Are the Chiefs for real at 3-0, or are they benefiting from a soft schedule. We think the latter. Break out the champagne 1972 Dolphins, the last unbeaten is falling by the wayside this weekend.
Green Bay at Washington: We are beginning to get off the Packer bandwagon and onto the Redskins. Is Mike Shanahan quietly making the Redskins a contender, or is it all McNabb’s magic? The Packers are beginning to show some chinks in the armor, especially on defense. The Packers need to run the ball better to make their defense better. This is the second hardest game to pick this week for us. It feels like a tossup. Might as well go with the Packers.
Chicago at Carolina: If there ever was a game that the Panthers could win, it is this one. Da Bears are sitting Jay Cutler this week after he got creamed in the first half against the Giants. Carolina is still young, but they hung with the Super Bowl champs last week. This is a trap game for the Bears, and we think that Carolina will actually pull the upset in this one. The Panthers can still rush the quarterback, and Todd Collins isn’t scaring anyone.
Denver at Baltimore: Is Kyle Orton’s arm going to fall off by the midpoint of the season? Perhaps, the Broncos are another team that could benefit from a little running game. The Ravens proved a lot of people wrong with beating the Steelers last week. Although it was without Big Ben playing for the Steelers. But a win is a win, and you take them where you can get them. Denver won’t hang with Baltimore this week. This might be the easiest pick this week.
New York Giants at Houston: The well rested Texans have the G-Men coming to town. The Texans are trying to shake off the drumming they took from the Cowboys prior to their bye, and the Giants try to gain some momentum. This is another hard game to pick, but if you believe the Texans are for real, and we do this year. You have to pick them, and we are.
New Orleans at Arizona: Gee mom, I’m starting my first career game! Too bad it is against the world champion Saints. Max Hall will probably only throw the ball 20 times as the Cardinals try to shorten the game with a lot of running with Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower. But Drew Brees only needs nano seconds to put up 28 points on you. And he will. The Saints will march all over the Cards.
Tennessee at Dallas: Are the Cowboys better than there record? Yes we think they are. Are the Titans good enough to hang in this game? Probably. But the Titans are week at cornerback and that is a bad thing when Tony Romo comes to town with his arsenal. Look for the Cowboys to prevail.
San Diego at Oakland: The Raiders have to be glad that LT is no longer playing for the Chargers, cause he used to just kill them in these games. But it doesn’t matter, because I could probably rush for 120 yards and two scores against the Raiders. San Diego looked unstoppable against the Cardinals last week, and look for that heat to continue this week. Chargers win big.
Philadelphia at San Francisco: Vick is out with sore ribs, so bring back former starter Kevin Kolb as the Eagles fly in to take on the winless 49ers. The 49ers have to wonder what else they can do to win a game. The 49ers have had a brutal opening schedule and now it starts to get a bit easier. They always play well at home, and without Vick the Eagles are a different team. It’s hard to pick them after being burned the first couple weeks. But we will go with the 49ers in this one. They are better than their record is.
Minnesota at New York Jets: This might be the hardest game to pick. Both teams can play defense. It will be a slug fest. Favre has been playing like a rookie, so look for AP to get a lot of carries in this one. I’m sure the Vikings will take a few shots with new toy Randy Moss. The Jets are playing great and looking like a contender. They are at home, so the safe pick is to take them. But Favre has had extra time to prepare for this game. And we need an upset pick. So we are picking the Vikings in this one.
Off this week are New England, Seattle, Miami, and Pittsburgh.
