I don’t want to be the guy that sits here and says the book was better than the movie, cause that usually is the case. But in the case of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, it was.
Overall, I don’t have an issue with the movie, it was good on many levels. The graphics were great, the fight scenes were stellar. The acting wasn’t even all that bad. The story followed the book loosely. However, the real issue I with the movie was the ending. What was so great about the ending of the book is that it brings Abe Lincoln to the present. Then ending of the movie was vague and left me unsatisfied. It felt a lot like the ending of Inception, but not in a good way.
ALVH rang in at an hour and forty-five minutes. But really should have been stretched to two hours. I only say this because the ending could have used about five minutes and some of the back story could have used a little more too. Honest Abe’s character wasn’t developed enough for me. Not that you have to really develop a national hero, but just a few more minutes of training or reaction to the death of his mother would have served the movie so much better.
Would I recommend this to someone to see? Yeah I would, because it is a decent movie. I think the movie would have been better served released later in the year, because summer blockbuster is was not.
