If you are like most gym rats, you like to take along your tunes to help get you through the workout.   And while music has come a long way with the smaller mp3 players and such, you still have always been tied by the wired earphones to the device in your pocket, strapped to your arm, or clipped to you shirt.

Well now, Sony has taken all of that and flushed it.  The new NWZ-W260 Walkman is described by the company as an MP3 player for the active audiophile.   We couldn’t agree more.

Specs on this model seem to be pretty sweet.  It comes in at 25% lighter than previous models, can provide an hour of music from just three minutes of charging while a full charge gives you eight blissful hours of music.  Great for those runners that think it is fun to run for three plus hours.   We call them idiots around here.

Included software allows you to drag and drop music from your current Itunes or Windows Media Player libraries.    The earphones are said to be water-resistant, so sweat away.  Just don’t plan on taking them into the shower with you.  Hitting the shelves next month the two models are 2GB version (the NWZ-W262) fetching $59.99 and a 4GB number (NWZ-W263) going for $79.99.  Both not a bad price if you are serious about the gym and your music at the same time.    Check below for the full press release.
