Here’s a quick look at week 6 of the NFL Season. Another horrible week for us, as we went 5-9 and bringing our record to 43-33 for the season. Let’s see if we can’t get back on track this week.
Seattle at Chicago: Chicago didn’t stumble like we thought they would last week against the Panthers. It is still hard to believe they are for real, but we are starting too. Seattle might be the hardest team to pick. But they are not very good on the road, and the Bears have the defense. We think this might be Matt Hasselback’s last start for the Seahawks as they start looking towards the future. The addition of Marshawn Lynch will help, but not much. Bears will win this one as long as Cutler doesn’t implode.
Miami at Green Bay: Again, Green Bay is looking like a pretender. You watch the first half of their game against the Redskins and you think they have the goods. Then they end up losing in overtime. Miami is coming off a bye still with questions at QB. They are playing a talented Packers team in Green Bay. If the previously concussed Aaron Rodgers is better, the Pack should win this one.
San Diego at St. Louis: The Rams are coming off a pure shellacking by Detroit and San Diego is coming off a shocking loss to Oakland. St Louis plays better at home no doubt, but they are getting into the meat and potatoes of their schedule now. San Diego better get right quick, or they are going to let Kansas City ride a soft schedule to the division title. San Diego will win this game, but then again, stranger things have happened.
Baltimore at New England: This is one of those games you hate to pick. Are the Patriots more one dimensional without Randy Moss or will Deion Branch steps in and delivers? Baltimore is coming off a comfortable win against the Broncos. The Ravens went into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers. But the Steelers didn’t have Tom Brady. We have to give edge to the Patriots since they are at home. But this one could be a tossup.
Detroit at New York Giants: Every Lions fan must be loving Shaun Hill now. There is something about that guy that makes you scratch your head. He wins games, and has the intangibles to be a good QB. If only he had a better arm. The Giants are coming off a resounding victory against the Texans. Are they going to sneak their way past teams in their division? Who knows? What we know is that the Lions don’t win on the road. The Giants win.
Atlanta at Philadelphia: Mike Vick is on the shelf again this week, but you wouldn’t know it the way Kolb played last week in San Francisco. Atlanta got out of Cleveland with a win last week in what could have been a trip up game. This one will be a good game. If Atlanta can run on a banged up Eagles team, it should make this day a lot easier. We are going with Atlanta..
Pittsburgh at Cleveland: What do you get when you screw a co-ed? A four game suspension that’s what. Big Ben is coming back to play and this couldn’t have been a better game on the schedule to do it. He will probably start slow, but the game will come to him. The Browns are hating this game, because Colt McCoy will make likely make his first career start versus the Steelers killer defense. Unless he goes all Max Hall on them, the Steelers win this one easily.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay: Um, hi New Orleans? Wanna play some Defense? Tampa bay is a nice surprise this season, but still not sold on them. Josh Freeman is starting to look like the real deal. We think that Drew Brees is going to take out some frustration on the Bucs. Saints need to return to form in this game to keep pace with the Falcons. We think they will.
Kansas City at Houston: Houston, what’s the problem? If you are going to toy with us over the first three weeks and then lay those two eggs, I’m going to stop picking you. The Chiefs played the Colts way harder than we thought they would, but in the end it proved that the Colts are in another league. We actually like the Chiefs on the road in this one. If they can return to form.
New York Jets at Denver: The Jets let the Vikings hang around too much in the second half on Monday night. Was it the weather or the Favre factor? Denver has back to back weeks of defensive beat downs after a loss in Baltimore. We don’t think there will be any surprises in this one and the Jets take this one.
Oakland at San Francisco: Sigh. Are the 49ers that bad to be 0-5? Or is there best football still ahead of them? The Raiders surprised a lot of people by beating the Chargers, even though the Chargers beat themselves. If you think the crowd was going ape shit against the Eagles when the 49ers struggled, just wait and see what happens if they lose to the Raiders. We don’t think they will though. It’s hard to pick the 49ers anymore, but we cannot and will not support the Raiders. Go 9ers!
Minnesota at Dallas: We think that most people thought this wouldn’t be the match up of the 1-4 teams. But it is. Both teams have issues. Is Brett distracted by Penisgate? The Cowboys are killing themselves. Thankfully one of these teams has to win. Sorry Dallas. The Vikings will win this one.
Indianapolis at Washington: Ok, ok. We know the Redskins are surprising a lot of people. McNabb will do that for you. The Colts struggled a bit against a subpar Chiefs team last week. But they always seem to pick it up for national TV. Hard to pick against the Colts on this one.
Tennessee at Jacksonville: Both of these teams are hard to pick. Both are a little up and down. We really don’t have much concern on who wins this game. And don’t know why it ended up on Monday night when there are better games out there. Guess we will go with Tennessee.
Off this week are Cincinnati, Arizona, Buffalo, and Carolina.
Um…whitey? The “sub-par” Chiefs (who put a whoop on the 9ers, I might add), are playing AT Houston this week. BUt you can still pick them if you want to.
You are correct, thanks for catching that for us. As far as their record goes, I’ll be more convinced of their record after 10 games then 5. They had San Diego on a sloppy field, a weak Cleveland team, A dysfunctional 49ers team, and they lost to a team that was suppose to beat them. They might have the easiest schedule in the league this season. Does that make them a power house? Hardly. They could make the playoffs on that schedule, but they are not in same league as the Steelers, Colts, Ravens, Patriots, or the Jets.
