Did you forget to get a permit when you added that in-ground pool to your estate? Uh-oh! Google- maps is calling you out! It all started last year in Greece when their local government had a hair-brained idea to use Google-Maps for discovering homes with large in-ground additions to their back-yard… without a permit. Now another government official, this time state-side, has taken notice… and is jumping on the bandwagon.
The good people of Riverhead, Long Island better take head… and get those permits now! According to an article written by Techcrunch the Riverhead officials have already collected over $75,000 in fines from pool owners that never filled out the appropriate paperwork.
When Riverhead’s Chief Building inspector Barnes was asked about the fines, his response was
“Pool safety has always been my concern.”
I doubt it had anything to do with the fact that they just made OVER $75,000!!!!
