Okay… so today I ran across an interesting article talking about the creation of Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” series into several movies and a TV show. I’m a HHUUGGEE fan of Stephen King, always have been (The first serious book I read was “The Stand“)… but when I hear that one of his books is in the process of becoming a Movie (in this case… movies), it makes me a little weary. When I hear it’s becoming a TV series, it makes me vomit in my mouth a little.
So I track down the official Press Release and get down and dirty with the details… and I gotta say, I’m going tune-in for this one. With low expectations…. but none-the-less, tuned it! For starters; Akiva Goldsman, Ron Howard & Brian Grazer are currently slated to produce the movies and TV series (good start). It apparently has the King’s blessing (always a nice thing to see!). With Seven books and a comic book prequel… the staying power of this series could end up being legen-wait for it, wait for it, hope you’re not lactose intolerant-dary (Thank you Barney Stinson). I imagine “Lost” & “X-Files” potential!!! This book series crosses over nearly EVERY different genre, in a way that I believe NBC could honestly bring in a very large variety of viewers. Describing the Movie/TV Show process, the Press Release states:
A very interesting process that I don’t believe has ever been done before. The more I write about this, the more I’m looking forward to seeing something done. I hope it’s on at 10p so they can mix some real grit into the action.
I can only imagine what this series is going to do for King’s book sales!!!!
