According to NFL.com, The Dallas Cowboys fired head coach Wade Phillips today. Assistant head coach and current Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will take over the position of head coach on a interim basis.
The Cowboys are coming off a 45-7 drumming by the Green Bay Packers, are 1-7 and have had their defense fall a part over the last three games, with them surrendering an astounding 121 points over that period. No doubt the Cowboys woes are aided by Tony Romo’s recent shoulder injury.
Jerry Jones had said in the past that he was reluctant to make a change mid-season due to his feelings that it rarely helps the situation. He is right, it rarely does.
The team is set to address the media at 5:00 p.m. ET. More on the story here.
