If you ever felt like a douche playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band with your colorful toy plastic guitar or really want to learn to play but can’t afford lessons look no further…Rocksmith is here to help.  Rocksmith for both PS3 & X-box offers guitar enthusiasts from beginner to expert level the chance to learn or refine your guitar playing skills by actually plugging in a real life guitar into your console.    I tested a Fender Stratocaster with the PS3 using the included USB to quarter-inch jack and Rocksmith did the rest.  You will start your guitar playing journey with the included tuner that is one of the easiest to use that I’ve seen.  How Rocksmith works is it assigns colors to each guitar string and numbers to each fret and has a similar playing screen to those Guitar Hero games with the key difference being that you are ACTUALLY PLAYING A REAL GUITAR!  You can place the included decals on your guitar fret to make things easier if you’re just starting out.  Once your guitar is tuned, Rocksmith starts you off with The Stones classic Satisfaction.  A tune that is easy to learn but difficult to master and a great way to begin.  Rocksmith includes over 50 tracks from artist such as Nirvana and The White Stripes and will no doubt offer more in future downloads.  Once you get some practice time in you can even incorporate pedal effects to your guitar playing.

Rocksmith retails for about $80 bucks and is available for PS3, X-box and PC.
