It seems like every summer there is an album that is your soundtrack of the summer. It is something that get’s you through the hot days. It’s your go to guy when you need a pick me up. I’m putting it down right now that, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, is my album of the summer. From top to bottom this album has great songs on it. I don’t know if this is a fair comparison but this guy is the Lady Gaga of this summer. Meaning that this is the album everyone is/should be listening too.
Following the ever popular “collaboration” cookie cutter method that seems to dominate the rap/hip hop these days, this album brings the heavyweights out that stretch the demographic of this album. Either B.o.B is a genius, or he has some smart producers. From “Magic” featuring Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, to “Bet I” featuring T.I., to both renditions of the song “Airplanes Part I & II” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore (who makes eggshell blue in certain areas below the belt by the way) and Eminem (Part II) this album delivers songs that you can’t help but at bob you head to (and not in a Big Willie Style way either). With multiple songs currently playing on the airways, this album is going places. I would like more songs that are just B.o.B though, to truly showcase his talent would be nice. But with only three songs on the album that feature him only, it is hard to wonder if this guy has the chops to do a whole album where he is the star. Either way, he showcases a ton of talent on this album and makes it worth dropping the cash to pick it up.
I recommend downloading it from Amazon today ($7.99) and enjoying it. And don’t puss out and get the clean version either.
P.S. We here at the Glossy Underground had to google this Gaga chick..Don’t want to hurt our street cred.
