Since the calendar gods have seen fit to put July 4th in the middle of the week and the prospects of digging too deep into the tasty libations might be too much since you have to work on Thursday, here is a quick look at some of the new movies hitting the shelves in case you want to lounge around and digest grandma’s potato salad before the fireworks get going.

Born on the Fourth of July: This is one of those great Tom Cruise films.  You know, before he got crazy, and jumped all over a coach.  If you haven’t seen this, pick up it in time for July 4th.  Very appropriate.

Barbarella:  I’ve never heard of this movie, but it has Jane Fonda in it.  So if that is your thing, then by all means.

Since this is a slow week, here are some others you might want to check out…

21 JumpStreet: Jonah Hill and the guy that seems to be in every movie lately, but can’t act, Channing Tatum star in this remake of the TV show.

The Artist: The movie that won a bunch of awards, even though there were some better movies out there last year.  But the Academy wants, what it gets.

Wrath of the Titans: The sequel to the remake, and probably worth watching just for the action and the effects.  Sadly, not for the acting.

Mirror Mirror:  I’m hoping this movie will be better than Snow White and the Huntsman.  Sadly, it probably won’t be.  While one was dark and edgy, this one probably will be cute and cuddly.  Good for the kids for sure though.

If you haven’t browsed Netflix instant in a while, there are quite a few action movies there that are worth seeing again.  But here is the top 10 from instantwatcher.com!
