You have to be a little retarded to not notice we get a hardy nerd-chub every time we talk about our Audyssey South of Market Audio Dock.  It is, by far, the best sounding iPhone dock I’ve ever wrapped my ears around.

Now… the makers of that incredible awesomeness are finally unleashing their sound nerd’s hard work once again, this time in the form of their Audyssey Lower East Side (LES) Media Speakers ($199).  To say we’re excited is like saying pissing on an electric fence “tingles a little”.  I’ll fill you in on all the technical stuff below… but do know, as soon as we get our review units we will be right here to tell you just how these little bastards sound.  I will toss my 2 cents into the ring now though.  If they are anywhere near as amazing as the SOM dock… these will put all other speakers to shame.  and… AND… allow me to enjoy music at my desk again (it’s been awhile).

The little bullshit speakers I’ve had gracing my desktop for the past few years pretty much suck balls.  I’ve put up with it, because the real deal is usually either too damn expensive… or too freaking big to be legit.  Based on the specs… the LES speakers might just be perfect.

Why “Lower East Side” you ask?  I wondered myself… here’s what they said:

The Lower East Side of Manhattan is a neighborhood rich in culture and history. Its tenement-lined streets have been home of immigrants from nearly every country in the world since its inception. More recently, the LES has been the stomping grounds for bands and their fans propelling cutting-edge music at venues such as CBGB, ABC No Rio and Arlene’s Grocery. These sights and sounds serve as the backdrop and inspiration for Audyssey’s latest product.

Here’s the Official Press Release (Spec breakdown below):

Audyssey Introduces the Lower East Side Media Speakers Digital Connectivity Enables Seamless Integration with Popular Wireless Music & Video Devices

LOS ANGELES, CA – (Marketwire – June 22, 2011) – Audyssey, a leader in audio technology
for the home, automotive and theater markets, today introduced the Lower East Side Media
Speakers. These speakers come on the heels of Audyssey’s award-winning Audio Dock, again
combining the company’s expertise in digital signal processing and electro-acoustic design for
results that look great, feel sturdy and, most importantly, sound amazing.

”Our lives revolve around digital content, and our Lower East Side Media Speakers are
designed to seamlessly integrate with how we watch movies and listen to music,” said Robb
Mason, Audyssey’s vice president of marketing. “By offering optical and analog inputs, users
can easily connect with their content delivery system, whether that’s a desktop computer or
an Apple TV. Style, quality and versatility, that’s what these speakers are all about.”

Digital Technologies for a Digital Age

Everything else is going digital, so why not your speakers? The Lower East Side Media
Speakers use award-winning Audyssey Smart Speaker digital audio technology to provide
flawless sound for your computer and media center. Audyssey uses unique audio software
technology to solve problems with small speakers, which typically can’t produce deep bass,
lack clarity and produce poor sound quality at softer listening volumes. All these problems are
solved by Audyssey Smart Speaker technology, resulting in audio performance that far
outpaces other speakers in the price category.

Looks Good. Sounds Better                                                                                                                                                               You’ll like the way the Lower East Side Media Speakers look on your desktop, but you will love
the way they sound. Audyssey technology and custom-designed components mean the Lower
East Side Media Speakers let you hear every musical detail: low bass, warm mids and clear
highs. You will be blown away by the precise sound. That’s the rich, balanced sound that
you’ve come to expect from Audyssey.

Why the Lower East Side?
New York’s Lower East Side is rich in culture and history. The tenement-lined streets have
been home to immigrants from nearly every country since the neighborhood’s inception as a
gateway to a new world. More recently, the LES has been the stomping grounds for bands and
their followers in hallowed venues such as CBGB, ABC No Rio and Arlene’s Grocery. The sights
and sounds of the LES serve as the backdrop and inspiration for the Lower East Side Media
Speaker.

Pricing and Availability
The Audyssey Lower East Media Speakers will begin shipping late in the third quarter of this
year and will have a street price of $199.
